Historic Water Street kicks off the winter holiday season with many events for all ages: a Tour of Homes, a lighted Evening Christmas Parade down historic Water Street, lighting of the community Christmas Tree, a special appearance by Santa and Mrs. Claus and Reindeer arriving late afternoon. There will also be other activities for all ages, including a commemorative limited edition Red Wing Pottery crock, the Fire Department’s Chili Supper, a scavenger hunt, and kids’ activities at the library. It’s a festive day sure to get everyone into the holiday spirit.

CELEBRATE THE RED, WHITE & BLUE

FOURTH OF JULY CELEBRATION

Salute our nation’s history at one of the longest-running Fourth of July celebrations in the state! Shullsburg’s premier event and reunion offers three days of old-fashioned festivities. From Firemen’s Water Fights to a dazzling fireworks display, it’s nostalgic fun for the whole family.

Don’t miss the parade down Water Street, complete with historical portrayers in costume, festive floats, and marching bands. Leave the cooking to us, with food stands offering everything from cheese curds to brats and brews. Don’t miss the ever-popular Pie Auction. And be sure to close out the evening with “one of the best fireworks displays in Wisconsin” at historic Badger Park.

The Shullsburg Legion, VFW, Conservation Club, Lions Club, Masons, Miner Community Group, and Volunteer Fire Department and others generously donate to host, support and facilitate this annual event. Activities and events are subject to change.

MUSIC IN THE PARK – THURSDAY EVENINGS

JULY-AUGUST

Since 2003, the Shullsburg Music in the Park concert series has developed a loyal following. Beginning each year after the 4th of July, the concert series continues to get bigger and better. In keeping with the traditional offering of music from a wide variety of regional artists, there’s always a genre of music for folks of all ages to enjoy.

The free concerts are held from 7-8:30 p.m. at the stage at Shullsburg’s Badger Park. The events are always held on Thursday evenings in July and August, rain or shine.

Food and beverages are available for purchase, starting at 6pm. Concertgoers are encouraged to bring their lawn chairs or blankets. For more information and the most up-to-date schedule, please visit the Music in the Park website.

GRAVITY HILL RUN

SECOND SATURDAY IN AUGUST

“Run for fun or to compete on a hilly course in the countryside”

An evening run for runners of all abilities. The course begins in town and heads towards famous Gravity Hill south of Shullsburg and ending at Badger Park. Medals, bragging rights and more fun follows after the finish line. Timed by sanctioned organizers.

CHEESEFEST – ANNUALLY 1ST SATURDAY IN OCTOBER

Shullsburg’s free, family-friendly festival is held on historic Water Street with entertainment and events throughout the entire day.

The event gets underway early starting with the Shullsburg Fire Department’s Annual Breakfast, a wide array of CheeseFest Street Market Vendors, and wine and cheese tasting. In addition, all the town’s regular shops and businesses are open.

Throughout the day, you’ll find Main Stage Events on the corner of Water and Iowa Streets. This centralized hub will bring a multitude of free live entertainment including a variety of music, “Test Your Cheese IQ” and much more. Other events include the Shullsburg Friends of the Library’s annual book sale, hayrides, children’s activities, a Scarecrow Contest, and a raffle for a long list of prizes.
